Mission
The mission of South Highlands Middle School’s Library Media Program is to be an integral part of the instructional curriculum by providing continuous and relevant service to students, teachers and the community to prepare students for the future through the use of library and online resources for recreational use and academic research.Books
Students may check-out books for a one week period. A student may renew a book for another one week period. Books need to be returned on or before the due date. To locate books in the library, students must access the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) on the network. The books in the collection are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System.Internet
Internet access is available in the library. All students must govern themselves according to the district's Acceptable Use Policy. All students are responsible for appropriate behavior while using the Internet. Any violation of this policy may result in access being denied, revoked, or suspended.Hours of Operation

"The Alabama Virtual Library provides all students, teachers, and citizens of the State of Alabama with online access to essential library and information resources. It is primarily a group of online databases that have magazine, journal, and newspaper articles for research. Through the AVL, an equitable core of information sources is available to every student and citizen in Alabama, raising the level of excellence in schools and communities across the state."
